Job title: Content Marketing Manager

Job Summary

The Content Marketing Manager will provide technical marketing writing for Primerdesign’s world-class range of molecular products for research use and applied applications, leveraging our expertise in qPCR. The role will be pivotal for creating high quality content both online and offline, with the aim of building customer engagement to increase sales revenues. As part of a dynamic marketing team, the role includes leading and supporting marketing campaigns and activities.

The ideal candidate has a PhD in Life Science and has gained experience in content marketing with a proven track record of writing engaging technical copy. This individual must be eager to work in a highly collaborative team environment and willing to take ownership to help grow the business to the next level of success.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Develop and implement content marketing strategy and communication plan
  • Create engaging technical marketing content for: website, social media, emails, blogs, brochures, application notes, digital ads, videos, handbooks, and other sales tools
  • Prepare relevant value adding content for customers in the markets of life science, molecular diagnostics, and vet & food applied testing, e.g. infectious disease pathogen testing using real-time qPCR
  • Devise key messaging points for lead generation and conversion campaigns. Understand the buyer personas and target marketing activities along the buying cycle
  • Co-creation of content with key opinion leaders, and reference customers
  • Publish content on website and social channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Blog site)
  • Track customer engagement, measure ROI, and improve search engine rankings (SEO)
  • Prioritize, plan, and manage multiple content development projects simultaneously according to timelines
  • Assist with ad hoc authoring, editing and proofreading tasks
  • Communicate effectively and ensure alignment between key stakeholders
  • Support delivery of the sales and marketing plan including supporting campaigns and events, on time and in budget

Qualifications and experience required

  • Previous experience with qPCR technology is mandatory, scientific degree, and PhD is a plus
  • A strong understanding of life science, applied applications, and In-Vitro Diagnostic qPCR assays and workflows
  • Min. of 1-2 years working experience in Marketing with demonstrable ability to write concise, engaging technical marketing copy
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills
  • Attention to detail and proofreading skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects that are deadline oriented, and be flexible with changing tasks
  • Highly motivated and organized individual

Job title: Dispatch Assistant (Part-Time) 

Location: Southampton

Job Summary

Primerdesign is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Dispatch assistant, who is looking for an opportunity to work within a small but fast-growing biotech business. We are experts in real-time PCR, a molecular biology technique for detecting the presence of DNA and quantifying it. We have customers in many different industries including academia, research, healthcare, food industry and the veterinary industry selling to over 100 countries worldwide. Working as a dispatch assistant you will be working within a team responsible for the preparation and dispatch of customer orders and contribute to the maintenance of stock levels and dispatch areas. Candidates must have excellent organisational skills and good communication skills. The ability to work in a logical and organised manner, with excellent attention to detail is essential for this role. Previous stock control or dispatch experience would be desirable but not essential as full training will be given.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the dispatch team to achieve the timely preparation and dispatch of customer orders.
  • Accurately participate in the picking and packing of the DNA detection kits.
  • Ensure accurate packaging of dry ice products and ensuring correct protection is worn when doing so.
  • Keeping the lab sufficiently stocked with packaging used, such as Jiffy envelopes and ice boxes.
  • Maintain stock levels of products which can pre-packaged.
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels of all PCR kits and reagents.
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels of plasticware, LIAB components and extraction kits.
  • Ordering stock internally and externally.
  • Selecting products/orders for dispatch and providing the QC team with their template picking list.
  • Printing all relevant shipping paperwork, such as commercial invoices, required to ensure orders are not delayed or held in customs.
  • Arrange shipment collections with non-FedEx couriers.
  • Communicate with couriers to ensure any delays are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Participate in general administrative tasks when required.
  • Work within the ISO13485 quality system.
  • Work closely with operations and customer care teams in the business to ensure good communication.

Qualifications and experience required

  • Previous stock control or dispatch experience is desirable.

Job title: PCR Design Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Bioinformatics Scientist to address our needs for PCR assay design within the R&D department of a fast-growing and friendly biotech business.

Primerdesign are experts in real-time PCR, a molecular biology technique for detecting the presence of DNA and quantifying it. We have customers in many different industries including academia, research, healthcare, food industry and the veterinary industry selling to over 100 countries worldwide.

The candidate will apply algorithms and bespoke software programs to support PCR assay design and conduct in silico validation of assays. They will also analyse experimental data with the goal of improving and maintaining the design processes required to support Primerdesign’s objectives. They will be required to apply their design knowledge to utilise innovative chemistries across a wide range of applications; e.g. expression profiling, genotyping, multiplexing etc.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Manage a team of design specialists to support the development of assays: the design PCR primers and probes for targeted assays using existing pipelines and tool.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute bioinformatics pipelines for assay design, data mining and sequence analysis.
  • Assess designs and develop/maintain processes and algorithms to improve the assay design pipeline (for the purposes of generating of IP).
  • Curate sequence data and mine public databases for sequence content periodically.
  • Work closely with internal and external collaborators to define the bioinformatics requirements for assays, set timelines and perform design reviews.
  • Assist in the execution of development studies, ensuring compliance with all applicable laboratory practices.
  • Assist in the data analysis and report writing of development studies, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory standards.
  • Participate in R&D project team meetings as needed.
  • Assist with laboratory tasks as and when asked. This may include the development and optimization of new and existing products.
  • Ensure the completion of research-related documentation (including technical summaries) in line with an ISO13485 quality management system.
  • Provide regular progress reports on assigned projects.
  • The provision of expert technical support for customers may be required.

Qualifications and experience required

Essential
  • MS/PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics or related field
  • Previous PCR knowledge and hands-on experience is a must. 
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience is required; industry preferred
  • Proficient with bioinformatics analysis tools: multiple sequence alignment, BLAST analysis, open reading frame analysis; secondary, tertiary and quaternary protein structure prediction, phylogenetics
  • Expertise in mining public databases for genomic sequences
  • Expertise in sequence analysis tools for mapping and comparative genomics
  • Understanding of the biology behind genotyping, gene expression profiling, comparative genomics and genetic mapping
  • The ability to work well within a team and have strong written and verbal communication skills is critical.
  • Excellent communication skills, organizational skills and outstanding attention to detail are required for this role. 
Desirable
  • MS/PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics or related field
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience is required; industry preferred
  • Understanding of assay design, experience working in disease research or with next generation sequencing data and customer facing experience would all be highly advantageous.
  • Experience of working within a quality system is highly advantageous, particularly ISO 13485. 
  • Previous experience in scientific product development or creating complex study designs desired.
  • Previous statistical data analysis experience would be beneficial.

Job title: Account Manager, EMEA

Job Summary

Reporting to the Head of Sales –International Markets, this role is responsible for account managing sales covering Europe, Middle East & Africa. The role will include managing direct customers, active distributor management and identifying new sales opportunities for the EMEA region.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Working with distributors in the EMEA region to deliver budgeted sales, drive the sales pipeline and ensure revenue growth
  • Ensure valid contracts are in place with partners 
  • Identify new sales opportunities within existing accounts to retain a client-account manager relationship by up-selling and cross-selling
  • Working with after-sales to ensure maximum support for customers and distributors
  • Working with Customer Services/Sales order management to ensure timely and accurate delivery
  • Actively support distributors in training events and sales meetings within the assigned EMEA countries
  • Provide accurate forecasting to meet/exceed budget and manage key opportunities
  • Drive for customer satisfaction and increase competitive advantage by building trust and relationships
  • Liaise with internal teams on financial, contractual, logistics and product registration matters for the assigned EMEA countries
  • Coordinate and provide regular revenue reports to distributors
  • Proactively communicate with Primerdesign distributors, by regular calls and email correspondence, to ensure their projected revenue targets are being fulfilled

Qualifications and experience required

  • Degree Level qualification or equivalent in Life Sciences
  • Experience of selling into the life science Research and Diagnostics Market
  • Distributor Management experience
  • Experience in the PCR market place
  • Proven track record of success
  • Significant experience of managing a distribution network across Europe, Middle East and Africa
  • Ability to build networks and positively influence sales outcomes
  • Strong negotiation skills
